Education today has become very subject-oriented. Teachers are specializing in teaching a subject rather than using the subject as a means to help the child in his or her own development. If we believe that the purpose of education is the blossoming of human excellence, then each subject taught is simply a vehicle to help the children realize their full potential. In a Sathya Sai School, values education is taught in two ways. The first is integration of values with extra-curricular school activities. The second is a direct method, which uses instructional techniques to teach one of the five human values.
ISSE believes another effective way of teaching values is by example. Teachers are remembered for what they are more than for what they teach. If a teacher is loving and kind, then everything he/she teaches will automatically be full of values. Teaching that the composition of water is H2O is normal academic knowledge. Teaching the value of water or the proper way to use and conserve it, is Sathya Sai Education in Human Values. Both kinds of teaching must be used together to constitute more balanced education. Once a teacher starts to practice values in his or her life, then to think of ways to integrate values into the classroom becomes easy. The program of Sathya Sai Human Values offers a unique opportunity to both teachers and students. It is an opportunity to grow and develop together.
World-Wide Sathya Sai School Information

There are now Sathya Sai Schools in India, Thailand, Zambia, Australia, Indonesia and South Africa. School Profiles are available including plans for future schools. It is the policy of the Institute that values education should be available for everyone and free of charge.
