The Institute wishes to stress the importance of setting up a Sathya Sai School in every region so that it serves the community as well as being a model school for observation by governments, schools, colleges and universities. For the mission of Sathya Sai Education to proceed, all education projects must be given the highest priority for every country. Sathya Sai Schools provide training in SSEHV for teachers from other schools, and will hopefully speed up the process of adopting schools in that country as well. To set up a Sathya Sai School, the Institute outlines the following procedures as a framework:

Preliminary Decision

The decision to start a Sathya Sai School should be made by the Sai Organization of the country. This should be carefully thought out as the Sathya Sai name is used. The Organization must protect the name at all cost. Once started, the School cannot be allowed to fail and the highest standard must be maintained.

No one else may use the name Sathya Sai in setting up a school. Ownership

Ideally, the land and building should be owned by the Sathya Sai Organization of the country rather than being under rental.

Application

Application to establish a Sathya Sai School should be sent to the Institute of Sathya Sai Education, giving as much detail as possible especially on the school set up guidelines. A plan and drawing of the school should also be submitted.

Approval

On receiving approval from the Institute of Sathya Sai Education, the Organisation in the country concerned may start the process of establishing the school and a Sathya Sai Education Trust.

Financing

Sathya Sai Education Trust should be set up with the objective of giving funding and support to the Sathya Sai School and set policies for the School. The Sathya Sai Organization must have full control of the Trust. There must be sufficient fund to keep the school running.

Administration

The Governing Board of the School should be appointed by the Organization with Ex-Officio members on the Board.

Fees

There will be no fees collected. Initially, charges may be made for board and lodgings only. Plans should be made so that, eventually, there will be no charge in anyway.

Vegetarian Food

All Sathya Sai Schools must provide purely vegetarian food for the children and staff.

School Logo and Uniform

The logo for all schools in all countries will be the same except that the name of the town and country will be added. The design will be sent out from the Institute to all concerned. Each country will determine what kind of uniform the children will wear so that it conforms to the traditional dress code, customs and or government regulations of the country. Training

The administrators and teachers of the School must be properly trained in Sathya Sai Education in Human Values. They must practice these values and the teaching techniques in their own life.

Training Courses

The Institute of Sathya Sai Education will help in the training of teachers at the School. Some teachers/administrators should attend instructor courses arranged by the Institute and have hands-on experience at one of the approved Sathya Sai Schools.

Accreditation

The Institute of Sathya Sai Education will set up an Accrediting Committee to inspect the School in accordance with the standards of SAI 2000 and give accreditation accordingly. Inspection will continue from time to time to ensure that highest standard is maintained.

Administrator Meetings

Meetings will be arranged for Principals and administrators of all Sathya Sai Schools at one of the schools in rotation so that ideas and experiences may be shared.
